City of Austin Food Handler Requirement Update
As of June 1, 2015 the City of Austin no longer requires the Food Handler registration fee of $12.
Food handlers are still required to maintain current and valid, food handler training certification.
After taking Thornhill Training’s course you are certified State-wide including Austin. No further registration is required.
Operators will be required to maintain on-site, approved and current certificates of training, to establish that all food handlers are properly trained and make these certificates available upon request by the Department.
Two Class Options:

Who is required by the City to get certified? Food handler training and registration are required for employees that work unpackaged food, prepare, cook and serve food as well as handle equipment and utensils. Examples include; food prep, cook, dishwasher and wait staff.
